First time using Synology, so Im following the quick install guide, go to find.synology.com and it sees the DS916 and has an IP address and MAC address there but says Not Installed.Following along with the quick install guide, I hit connect to attempt to connect to the NAS and install the DSM but it just spins and spins and never connects or gives me any other options.
I tried downloading the Synology Assistant and it doesnt see the NAS at all. You will of course will need to have the disks installed on the Synology to do this. At this point the synoloigy nas only has its firmware installed and the OS is not present on the box (unless they have changed something in the last few years). If you have the NAS plugged into your network the firmware should pull a dhcp address, once it has that you should be able to find it with the Synology Assistant. The synology assistant is used to install the Synology OS (called DSM) onto that NAS. Once DSM is installed the NAS will reboot and then the management interface will be available so you can login and make setting adjustments. Synology Assistant Can T Find Nas Upgrade To BiggerI just did this process on my home synology NAS when I upgrade to bigger disks last weekend. Press question mark to learn the rest of the keyboard shortcuts Log in sign up User account menu 2 Cant detect my DS213J in Synology Assistant. I downloaded Synology assistant and connected to my NAS directly via a LAN cable as I could not see my NAS directly using the old IP with a direct connection to my new Wifi Router. Synology assistant initially found my NAS via LAN but could not connect. Double clicking my NAS in sinology assistant gave me a prompt to either manually set up or automatically detect WIFI connection settings. Switching to manual alerted an IP conflict, so I switched it from 192.168.1.7 to 192.168.10 to see if that resolved the issue. The manual setup ran for a while and timed out, at which point my NAS is no longer appearing in the sinology assistant. Synology Assistant Can T Find Nas How To Connect ToIve got no idea how to connect to my NAS to either manually set up my Wifi network connection settings, and its not seen with a LAN connection anymore. Is there anything Ive missed here would a reset work, and if so would I lose any data or simply reset the settings. Thanks in advance for any help. Make sure you only hold the RESET button down for 4-5 seconds and let go after you hear a BEEP. There is no need to connect it directly to set it up after the RESET.
